Abstract

In the article a problem of performance omprovemenr of the transport refrigerating system with eutectic plate evaporator is analysed. Due to weight limitations the system is equipped with single-stage compressor, whih operates at very low evaporation temperatures and high compression ratios. For such conditions the economizer technology offers substantial performance improvement.

A transport refrigerating system with eutectic plate evaporator and economizer with intermediate heat exchanger is investigated and compared to baseline eutectic system without economizer. Different configurations of an economizer system wwith additional suction liquid heat exchangers and with/without additional liquid injection through the discharge temperature control valve are analysed.

Comparing to the baseline system without economizer, the pull-down energy consumption decreased by more than 20% at 30 oC ambient temperature. The proposed custom-made intermediate heat exchanger allows efficiency improvement without significant cost increase.
