Abstract

Numerical simulations of mixed convective incompressible flow in a horizontal plane channel with adiabatic walls over two isothermal tandem circular cylinders of equal size are presented to investigate the effect of wall proximity of obstacles, gap space (i. e. gap between two cylinders), Reynolds number, and Richardson number. Computations have been carried out by using package ANSYS-CFX to solve the governing equations, for Reynolds numbers of 5 to 40, and Richardson number of 0 to 4. Results show that, gap space has different effect under aiding thermal buoyancy on first and second cylinder in fluid characteristics as well as heat transfer effect.
