Numerical simulation of tooth mobility using nonlinear model of the periodontal ligament
Abstract
Orthodontic tooth movement is usually character-ized by two centers: the centre of resistance and the centreof rotation. This paper reports on studies hypothetical me-nical representation of the periodontal ligament (PDL) ich plays the most significant role in tooth mobility. The del assume a nonlinear material properties ofmeans of nonlinear dependence of stresses on strains. Re-ts were obtained by applying the finite element method M) on a lower jaw canine. It was found that the nonlin- PDL locate centre of resistance apically 0.4 mm in parison with those obtained with linear PDL.Downloads
