Stability analysis of steel frames with variable cross-section for sports and entertainment centre
Abstract
The paper describes stability analysis of “Multi-functional centre for sports, entertainments, conferences, exhibitions, tourism and recreational activity in Varėna, Lithuania”. The sports rooms of this building are covered by steel plane frames of variable I-section with openings and stiffeners. Investigation of global instability of the whole building, stability of thin-walled steel frames and local cross-sectional buckling is carried out by stages ac-cording to a specially developed algorithm. The structure is numerically simulated by the finite element method using beam or shell finite elements. On the basis of the sequen-tial stability analysis the bearing constructions of the build-ing are being improved and its structural members are get-ting equistable.Published
